Another monthly competition, another race to the finish line. This months competition was 'Hidden and Dangerous' and having been watching some of the Painting Buddha series, I
felt like doing a scenic base with something on it... and a sniper was the obvious choice.

The model was painted in place with the base so that the camouflage was as close to the base as I could make it.

The water effect was my first attempt and something if a failure TBH, it got stuck on the plastic card that I was using to keep it in and ended up less that smooth, nothing that a lot of layers of Gloss vanish could not mask...
The foliage is from woodland scenics as are the Lilly pads in the water

The Wild life all over the base is from Busch (HO gauge) there are two birds, a frog, three fish and a butterfly.
The water effect was done by painting gloss varnish along the line where I wanted the water to be flowing. Then a plastic glass was meted with a lighter and pulled into long thin strands, these were held in place with gloss varnish and left to dry. After this I used clear UHU glue to build up some bulk in the stream and along the course of the water.
The ivy is from MDP (ModeldisplayProducts.co.uk) and is held in place with matt varnish.
And there you go, you can see on the front of the water is slightly wonky.
