So there you have it, I might tinker with the hands a little bit to make them more oily or less..... well normal, I think they need to be a bit more pallid, but it kinda works.

I've also discovered that painting spirals of black around a yellow cable is somewhat tricky, but I think it worked in the end, so thats it for this chap, so long or as they say in the Mechanicum... 01110100101010110100101010  011000111010110  10101101100001101 110100101011010100101101011010100000101011010110... its an oldie but a goodie,

Woot? I made progress on a model?  Would that be a sleepy baby and an early night for Sleepy Momma as well? Time at the table? Don't mind if I do...

No records kept of the paints and things used, lots of VMA, VGC, GW, P3, Masking fluid and FW inks...

... seriously, when did it become necessary to use all these different products?  I remember painting my first mini with about 7 paints and a cruddy old brush because thats all I had, now it's the finest horse fluff brushes, triple filters for a fresh minty taste, dipped in the finest daub that money (or stupidity) can afford, still it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble.

Ok, so not so much progress as expected with the in laws down, so now I'm playing catch up for next Saturday...

The red was done with the Airbrush using VMA Mahogany 71036 as a base then a few layers of VMA Italian Red 71086.

The shading was done using watered down glazes of Daler Rowney FW Ink, Sap green 375 and Purple lake 437.  these inks mixed together make a nice dark wash that was used in the darkest parts of the cloak.

The high lights on the cloth were done with a few glazes of VMA Italian Red and then the very top of the folds were hit with a touch of P3 Khador red base.

Bronze is still a WIP, but so far... Base of GW Snakebite leather (discontinued) then a few layers of VMABright brass 71067 with a few drops of FW Ink Indian Yellow 643, taking care not to go too crazy with the ink as it is very high in intensity.

The silver is just a single layer of VMA Steel 71065... I found out that I had ran out of GW Null oil at this point a decided to turn in..... and then realised it was 2 am!

So, not much progress over Saturday due to building a raised bed for some veggies and painting a small gift for a friends daughter with the air brush, but whist it was out seized upon the opportunity to get the base layers down...

Time away... again... New beginnings and

Ok, Some thing have changed over the last 8 months, Can you tell what they are?  I July last year my hobby became baby distracting and chief poop cleaner for my boy Seb.  As I'm sure all hobby fans with kids can attest to, this means that the amount of time and spare cash available for hobby becomes nigh on next to 0 on both counts.  However, a visit from the in-laws meant that I was able to dust off the hobby desk and make something.  Since there is a small painting competition on in the local GW store I figured I would give it a punt, so...

I give you Arch Tech Mage Varas...

He is composed from a Cairn Wraith for the main body of the model, the hands off a crypt horror, and  parts from a busted up watch.  The staff is brass rod with parts from various Necron, Skaven and some circuit board along with wire and chain scraps.  Oh... and he was put together over two afternoons with the minimum of hassle.

Fingers crossed, with the in laws visiting, I'll be able to complete a good chunk of the beastie over the weekend, but as the competition is not till the 2nd of May, I'm not in the the biggest of rushes...
